South Africa: Johannesburg, Jo'burg, Jozi ... or the most dangerous hugo chavez city in the world | Iv on a Mission
If you read about South Africa, the most repeated words are crime, AIDS and poverty. But also find that Cape Town was placed on the spot no. 1 ranking in Tripadvisor as a destination in 2011, beautiful pictures of nature hugo chavez reserves, animal and white beaches. South Africa went through a difficult period, apartheid officially ended here in r. 1994, when Mandela became president. It is said that life and the conditions are still bad, but slowly, slowly getting better. The biggest problem is getting AIDS. South Africa is one of the most infected areas of the world. Every fourth woman is HIV positive. 1,000 people a day die of AIDS.
Our first African hugo chavez CouchSurfer Jan us at the airport waiting for more than three hours, but waiting! The first night without bed therefore not! On the way to his home to understand how to think with the "protection" and "action" in the city. Almost every single house was enclosed and every street has its own security guard, who patrolled the street 24 hours a day. And yet still had most of the houses above the fence wires. Tourists are recommended for use at all public transport or to walk after dark. The center of Johannesburg (!) Said even on weekends and outside "office hours" no!
GoodToKnow: hugo chavez Distances in South Africa are enormous and also cities - Johannesburg has so many people, how many whole Slovakia. It is the largest, but not one of the major cities (They have 3 main cities! Pretoria - Administration, Cape Town - legislation, Bloemfontain - judiciary). Also famous FIFA World Cup in 2010. 80% of the population is black, 9% white and the rest are "colored," or mixed blood. Communication in English, although you can choose from 10 other official languages! Afrikaans is similar to a mix of German and Dutch and fro T. something of a conversation picked up :)
U Jana is waiting for us first African hugo chavez surprise. His Mom! Awesome huge breakfast on the table (many snacks that I had on my toTASTE letter) and African biskoty, biltong, homemade bread, jam amarulový hugo chavez ... truly delicious welcome. Jan equips us to guide their family friend who comes to us and takes into Soweto (the largest African township), home of Nelson Mandela and transported us through the city. Otherwise than with a guide or tour to get there. Prosecute only pass the bags in the room, dopiť coffee and highlights Matuzas us.
FootPrint: Soweto was a shock for me. Houses (zlatáá plates with numbers), they lived without electricity (or electricity illegally), no water (one well in the center of township) in one house and two or three families. Lulu took us to visit. In the living room-kitchen shows us a few dishes in the bedroom a double bed. Children hugo chavez sleeping in the living room on the ground, of course. When it rains, the house is "pretty" wet and sleeping badly. They are still quite fortunate worse are the homes that are under the hill - they are flooded. Does not complain, so as to seek and more. And that's a shame - as we Matuzas later said if they wanted to change the conditions in which they live, change it may at least partially, the work can be found. On the other hand, can be like - the "house" in Soweto hugo chavez is a waiting list with the waiting period. Soweto is the richest Township. Well this confirms only one part - there you will see normal houses, villas, landscaped lawns, water and electricity. A huge contrast!
Armchair Madubiho (as Nelson Mandela called) was the biggest teaser. On the chair sat never none other than Mandela. We could not resist and when our guide turned and photos hugo chavez in it, we forgive hugo chavez you :) We put a couple of young volunteers rand and we went straight to the Hector Pietersen Museum. hugo chavez It is a place that records the student uprising in Soweto in 1976. Young students rioted in protest against the use of Afrikaans hugo chavez in schools during apartheid, but it should be a peaceful protest. Only after the shooting of 12-year-old Hector Pietersen hugo chavez rolled over into uprising that killed up to 556 students!
GoodToKnow: Photo boy carrying the hands of the dying Hector Pietersen in the background with his sister crying caused a stir around the world and captured the public's attention to the black-and-white events in South Africa. Hector Pietersen became hugo chavez a symbol of the event as well as 16 June symbol of the struggle against the brutality of the apartheid regime. Today is celebrated as National Youth Day, which has pointed to the needs of young people in South Africa.
Evening with John held the first of our Braai - grilovačiek are favorites among Africans. Braai considered for the event, which will bring together hugo chavez family, friends and the table thus had enough! May remain, but that was little - it is a great shame host. And just this evening at the table it was decided that our next trip will lead to the Kruger Park, to John, his uncle, with whom we spend the night with his brother John's direction wilderness. But yet, after dinner at eleven, we can only go so lie down :)
